while i was traveling in chiang mai, thailand for a quick girls' trip with a friend, I received a message from a lovely lady who organizes events and trips for women around vietnam. she had heard about me from one of
the many expat facebook groups that we are both a part of. I post on frequently about my availability, and this is just another example of why something like that pays off!
she had organized a women's yoga retreat the following weekend, and her photographer had to cancel last minute. She asked if I could go, and I immediately made arrangements so that was a possibility.
we went for three days to a region in vietnam's central highlands called da lat. it's known for their local wine (too sweet for me), as well as produce such as strawberries and avocados. it was a wonderful reprieve from saigon's intense heat. da lat is mountainous and was cold enough at night for bonfires.
it was such an inspiring trip! I met so many wonderful women who were a mixture of expats and locals. we pushed ourselves with numerous yoga classes each day, in addition to exploring the area and being constantly active.
i photographed the entire weekend, but participated as well. it was a new experience for me. being completely in the zone in a 6am yoga class, pausing to capture a photo, and then getting back into the flow was interesting. and something i am so happy i was able to do.
