Life Lessons from the Road

On a train traveling down the west coast of Italy, I took some time to reflect on what I've learned so far on my adventures.

• Don't be scared or embarrassed to ask for help. People will come to your aid more often than not. 
• Do as the locals do.
• Don't do anything half-assed. Do it all or don't bother. 
• Manners get you far. Be polite to people you encounter with a smile on your face. 
• We really are all similar. And the world is not that big. 
• Music makes the world go round. Always have a device charged with your favorites on it.
• The world is a beautiful place; do what you can to keep it that way. 
• Letting your guard down a little usually benefits you. The risk is worth the gain. 
• Respect. 
• Trains make you slow down and see your surroundings. Travel by them more often. 
• Laughter is the universe's secret remedy to a lot of life's problems. Do it often.
• Being near water is a necessity. 
• Your journey is already set in motion. Don't be lazy; hard work is essential. But enjoy the ride, even when it gets bumpy. As long as there are good people to go along with you, it'll be an amazing adventure.
